Now you know what agile methodology is, but what is agile recruiting?
As you probably guessed it’s simply recruiting using agile framework and principles: processes, team structure and technology. In practice, agile recruitment means working with hiring managers on each step of the hiring process and prioritising finding the right candidate over other, more admin-related tasks.
Each “hiring project” is divided into small goals. Goals are achieved during time-bounded ‘sprints’ and within each ‘sprint’ the defined goal is the priority. The progress of each “hiring project” is tracked in a visual way, ideally with the use of the relevant technology that allows to see the completed tasks and milestones, work in progress and any upcoming or outstanding activities.
Thanks to that, the possibility of finding just the right candidate for the job increases. What’s more, the hiring manager gains more visibility and control over the hiring process, which is especially important for companies that outsource their recruitment process (or use RPO).
Why should you care?
Companies that work based on agile recruitment methodology are more efficient, responsive and flexible throughout the entire recruitment process. Every step of the process is tested so that it generates the best possible results. Hiring managers can monitor the progress of work at every stage which gives them insights into what happens behind the scenes. This includes information such as different types of tasks and activities that are being carried out at any given time, any changes to the process and their results.
We can conclude that this approach leads to achieving much more accurate results than traditional recruitment model, as well as reducing time and cost per hire.
